Project Description:
A "Ronald McDonald" type of hospitality facility for families of critically ill patients within Desert Regional Medical Center campus. The project includes lobby, cafeteria, living rooms as well as public gathering, multiple private courtyards and chapel. It also provides parking, fountains, gardens, shaded spaces for retreat, reflection and consultation. Kitchen facilities are shared and spaces are designed to allow each visiting family to find professional in-house support services to ease the numerous strains of caring for seriously ill patients or assist them as they go through the grief process of losing a loved one. The guestrooms are private, modest but well equipped and so families may find comfort in an healing and tranquil environment.
